Library Veenendaal

In the summer of 2009 the contours of the new cultural center finally were visible. The library Veenendaal was to be settled in this center after a stay of 12 years on an tempory location.

Various programs of requirements and design concepts had been passed in review.The construction work of the new building made a big impression. It is  impressive and therefore asking for an interior design that would transcend the usual.

The municipality of Veenendaal as client asked the architect of the building, Jos van Eldonk, to make a plan. Together with the client and the future residents  Jos van Eldonk made a design. The municipality of Veenendaal has subsequently choosen Bieb Systemen (a daughter of Van Keulen Interieurbouw BV) for the finishing. As Project leader of this project I frequently had contact with the employees of  Bieb Systemen. Thanks to them the process of decorating and finishing went smoothly. Designs that proved to be less functional than thought, were professionally adapted in their own factory, without sacrificing  “the looks”. Months of intensive cooperation in which both the efficiency and friendliness of the staff of Bieb Systemen positively influenced the process, resulted in a delightfull design.

The “Cultuurfabriek” in Veenendaal, where next to the library also the Art Library, the Historical Society Old Veenendaal and the Historical Museum Veenendaal are located, is an eyecatcher on the inside as well as on the outside. Are you curious?
